Who made the world? Who made the swan, and
the black bear? Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean --

~ The Summer Day by Mary Oliver
The Empress is in the garden. She is sitting in delight and beauty and harmony. There is attention to detail. And the Big Picture. There is a taking in of all of it. Wholeness, balance.

She is usually the Mother of Invention, but not out of necessity. The Empress creates for the sake of creating. And yet in her deep work of creating, she'll remember to take the steak out of the freezer to thaw in time for dinner. That's the kind of balance to strike today.

Do your Work in this world, but don't neglect your environment. Notice what needs doing beyond your desk or table. With The Empress' all-encompassing energies, not much will escape your attention. As long as you pay attention. Without that payment, it's a little difficult to maintain a balance. Then you're ordering pizza for dinner. Or settling for a bowl of cold cereal. Is that what you want?

Anyway . . .

Do your precious life work. Because that work feeds your soul. Create, bloom, delight. Just remember there are other things to do today.
